Historical Fencing, or Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), is broad name given to a variety of martial arts that have disappeared over time.

These arts are being recreated through the study of old manuscripts and books written by the masters who taught them. It can cover many styles of fighting unarmed, armed, or even in armour.

Beginner classes in Berwick or Port Williams start with a one handed sword like a cutlass, sabre, or broadsword.
